Red Oak in Fall

The Shumard Oak is a stately tree with beautiful fall color. A native of the bottomlands of the Southeastern United States, Shumard Oak grows well in full sun on a wide variety of soils. Used in landscaping as a shade tree, it is also used as fuel wood, lumber, and a veneer product. Shumard Oak grows well in full sun on a wide variety of soils. It prefers moist, rich soil, but will tolerate drier locations. Shumard Oak is highly stress-tolerant and will endure high pH soil.
