Crabapple in Bloom

This is an excellent landscape tree that can be planted near utility lines and adjacent to paved surfaces. It is hardy and able to tolerate a wide variety of soil and water conditions. It has showy spring flowers and fall foliage. Prairiefire has bright red flowers and decorative red-purple fruit 1/2 inch in diameter that persist into March, however, they are most attractive in October and November. Young leaves are red-maroon, maturing to deep green. Handsome red-brown bark accents spring and fall foliage. A showy, disease-resistant landscape choice, it is considered one of the best red-flowering crabapples.
